While there’s a lack of bonus features, it is still something nice for anyone who wants a physical copy of the HBO Max exclusive series. “Together Again” does a great job of emphasizing the importance of Finn and Jake’s friendship and the lengths Finn will go to reunite with Jake.įans of Adventure Time will enjoy this Blu-ray release of Adventure Time: Distant Lands, as the stories are a worthy addition to the Adventure Time lore. While each of the four episodes is strong, the two standouts of the collection are “Obsidian” and “Together Again.” “Obsidian” builds on Marceline and Princess Bubblegum’s groundbreaking romantic reunion in the series finale, exploring their life as a couple as well as making their relationship stronger than ever by the episode’s end. The series’ familiar trademarks of humor and heart punctuate every episode and each installment has a satisfying conclusion that should resonate with fans both young and old. The final episode, “Wizard City,” focuses on Peppermint Butler and his attempt to start fresh at a school for wizards.Įach episode is set after the events of the original series and provides a great opportunity to revisit fan-favorite characters while introducing new ones. The Blu-ray collection is neatly packaged with the four episodes on a single disc. Now, on March 8, 2022, viewers that want to relive those four episodes or experience them for the first time can do so when Adventure Time: Distant Lands arrives on Blu-ray. A couple of years after the series finale, the adventures of Adventure Time continued in a series of four special episodes for the streaming service HBO Max titled Adventure Time: Distant Lands (the first special premiered on June 25, 2020). Popular Cartoon Network animated series Adventure Time ended its ten-season run (in 2018) with a conclusion that was both satisfying for its characters and a landmark moment for LGBTQ+ representation in children’s media.
